This area is in the south of the Allier department, and it borders both the Bourgonne and the Centre regions. It has a surface area of 2 539 kmﾲ, it includes 83 municipalities and has a population of 90 480 inhabitants. It takes approximately 3 hours to reach Lyon or Paris, and 1h30 to get to the capital of the Auvergne; Clermont Ferrand. Moulin, which has 20 700 inhabitants is set in the heart of the territory. This dynamic city was the birthplace of the Dukes of Bourbon, it is a city of varied architectural wealth and it provides all the necessary services and infrastructures. The area is extremely varied as regards architecture and landscapes. The forests merge with the lakes, fields or cultivated land, numerous monuments and castles are scattered among these landscapes. This mixture of agriculture and half wild open spaces provides an ideal setting for flowers and wild life. Spa activities are omnipresent, such as the Bourbon lﾒArchambault which takes its name from the Celtic god of sources, Borvo, and from the first Bourbon family, the Archambaud family. This small spa centre has been renowned since antiquity for the benefits of its spa water.
